BEHIND THE PAINTBRUSH
Through fragmentation and geometric abstraction, I distill emotion, memory, and cultural intimacy into simplified forms that reflect the quiet complexity of human connection.
FUNLOLA OYEWO
Funlola Oyewo is a Lagos-based artist of Ìjẹ̀ṣà heritage informed by quiet observation and emotional restraint. She experiences art-making as a state of deep immersion, where time dissolves and the outside world recedes into stillness. Her instinct for drawing emerged early, revealing art not as something acquired, but as an inherent language.
Though her background spans architecture, creative direction and marketing, art remained a constant and inevitable return. Her debut exhibition, Ówàmbẹ̀ Series: Wedding Guests, marked a return to an instinctive visual language.
